The Piešťany Airport ( Slovak Letisko Piešťany ) is the airport of the city of Piestany in Slovakia . There are currently no scheduled flights, with the exception of general aviation , only charter flights use the airport.

history

At the time of Czechoslovakia, the airfield was the home of the 3rd flight training regiment , 3rd Letecký Školský Pluk .

After the dissolution of the ČSFR in 1993 the place became a location of the Air Force of the Slovak Republic , Veliteľstvo vzdušných síl OS SR (VVzS) and was home to the 2nd mixed aviation regiment, 2nd Zmiešaný Letecký Pluk (2ZmLP) . At the time you were under three seasons. The 2nd air transport squadron flew a type mix of An-12, An-24, An-26, Yak-40 and Tu-154 and the 3rd the L-410. In addition, there was the 4th helicopter squadron, which was equipped with Mi-2 and Mi-8 / Mi-17. The regiment was renamed in 1995 to 32nd Air Transport Squadron, 32nd Dopravné Letecké Kridlo (32DLK), and almost all transport aircraft were under it. At the same time, the helicopter squadron was divided, so that the squadron had four flying squadrons, which were renumbered from 1 to 4.

In the late summer of 2001 the VVzS gave up the location. The transport aircraft of the 1st and 2nd squadron were relocated to Malacky and the helicopters to Prešov .
