The Bozen District (also: Bozen Umgebung District ; Italian : Bolzano ) was a political district in the Fürsteten Grafschaft Tirol . The district comprised areas in central and southern South Tyrol around the city of Bozen , which was also the seat of the district administration (in Raingasse ). The Bozen district was formed in 1868 from the six judicial districts Bozen ( Bolzano ), Kaltern ( Caldaro ), Kastelruth ( Castelrotto ), Klausen ( Chiusa ), Neumarkt ( Egna ) and Sarnthal , with the city of Bozen, which belongs to the judicial district of Bozen, not part of the district was.

In 1869, 63,611 people lived in the Bozen district, with 8,929 houses in the district and covering 30.13 square miles.

In 1910, the Bolzano district covered an area of ​​1,707.16 km² and housed a population of 73,970 people, of which 64,924 had German , 7,474 Italian or Ladin and 1,572 specified another language as a colloquial language or were foreigners. In 1910 the district consisted of six judicial districts with 43 parishes.

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain , which was signed on September 10, 1919, the entire district of Bolzano was added to Italy.
