Eva-Maria Bast

Eva-Maria Bast (born November 7, 1978 in Munich ) is a German journalist and writer.

Live and act

Eva-Maria Bast is the daughter of the artist Alfred Bast . She lives and works as a freelance journalist and author in Überlingen on Lake Constance and in Würzburg . Her reports focus on politics, history or people in special or difficult life situations.

In 2005 she founded the press and literature office Schriftwerk Bodensee, which was transferred to the journalist office Büro Bast & Thissen in 2011 . Eva-Maria Bast initiated and wrote the book series “Secrets of Homeland”, which started in 2011 in the Südkurier edition and quickly became a regional bestseller. The series has been continuously expanded since then and in 2015 had a total print run of around 120,000 copies. Eva-Maria Bast is the author of the series herself and works with various co-authors.

Eva-Maria Bast has been a guest lecturer at the Stuttgart Media University since June 2015 .

Family background

Eva-Maria Bast is the mother of five children and has been the partner of the Mayor of Würzburg, Christian Schuchardt, since 2018 . She has a son with him.

Publications

Secrets of the homeland

The series “ Secrets of the Homeland” has been published since 2011, the volumes of which Bast co-authored each time. It is published by Bast Medien GmbH. All volumes are illustrated and contain a mixture of well-known and less well-known stories and reports from the past of the respective city, supplemented by references to more or less familiar sights.

So far there are volumes about the cities and towns of Aalen , Bad Cannstatt , Bamberg , Bayreuth , Berlin , Bremen and the North Sea , Darmstadt , Donaueschingen , Dresden , Esslingen am Neckar , Erlangen , Flensburg , Friedrichshafen , Hamburg 1 + 2 , Hanover 1 + 2 , Jena , Constance 1 + 2 , Leipzig , Munich , Regensburg , Schwäbisch Gmünd , Stuttgart , Sylt , Tübingen , Überlingen 1 + 2 , Villingen-Schwenningen and Würzburg .

A book of secrets for children in the Lake Constance area and for the Black Forest region has also been published, as well as the secrets of idioms in collaboration with “ Die Welt ” .

A quarterly magazine that tells true stories of women from the past. After five editions, it was discontinued at the end of February 2018.

Prizes and awards

In 2012 Eva-Maria Bast received the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's German Local Journalist Prize in the History category for the concept of the secrets of home in the Südkurier.

An award for female media makers: newsroom.de, the news portal for journalists and media makers, launched an initiative in 2013 under the title “Die500” to look for “top female talent” in the media world. 500 women were selected, including Eva-Maria Bast. Newsroom.de dedicates an illustrated book to the award-winning women.

In 2014 Eva-Maria Bast received the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's German Local Journalist Award in the Society category for the series Escalator of Life in the Südkurier.
