The library of the Evangelical Ministry in the Augustinian monastery Erfurt e. V. is one of the most important church book collections in Germany. It is housed in the former Augustinian monastery in Erfurt .
history
The library was founded in 1646 as a foundation of the evangelical pastors, who are united in the evangelical ministry . It served and serves as the theological service library. From 1791 Kaspar Friedrich Lossius headed the library. In 2006 a fragment of the adaptation of the Arthurian poem Wigalois by Dietrich von Hopfgarten was discovered in the library .
Composition of the old stock
In 1993 the library contained 66,000 volumes. The old stock (before 1900) comprises 12,495 titles, including 95 incunabula and 1,157 prints from the 16th century. The Martinsstift library is kept as a special collection (1,402 titles).
