The bicosoecida are a group of flagellates within the stramenopiles .

They are single-celled organisms that live individually or in colonies. Three-part mastigonemen are present or absent. Plastids are absent. They feed phagotrophically via cytostomes (cell mouths). These are supported by broad microtubule roots. Some species have a Lorica .

The species live predominantly on the bottom of bodies of water, they often attach themselves to the substrate with the rear flagellum .
