Biela is an impact crater in the south of the front of the moon , southeast of Janssen and east of Rosenberger . The irregularly shaped crater rim is eroded with terracing , the interior is largely level with a central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Austrian astronomer Wilhelm von Biela .
