The Meißen beekeeping company is a German bottler of honey products from Meißen in Saxony and was the largest honey bottler in the GDR . The company has been part of the Breitsamer & Ulrich Group since the 1990s .

history

VEB Bienenwirtschaft Meißen, 1981

The Meißen beekeeping company was founded in the former Soviet zone in 1949. Initially part of the association of state-owned collecting and purchasing operations , the company became a state-owned combine in the 1960s and finally became the VEB Bienenwirtschaft Meißen in 1970 . At that time around 200 people were employed. Until the fall of the Wall, the Meißen beekeeping was the largest honey bottler in the GDR.

In 1989, a cooperation with the company Breitsamer & Ulrich began , whose 100% subsidiary in the legal form of a GmbH became the Meissen beekeeping. In 1999 a new company building was erected in the east of the city of Meissen.

The company's managing director is Burkhard Bartsch. The company has been certified according to the International Food Standard (IFS) since 2008 . The main sales markets for the Meissen Bienenwirtschaft brand are the new federal states .
