Bifengxia
Bifengxia (Chinese:碧峰峽; Pinyin: bifengxia; literally: Valley of the green mountaintop ) is a breeding center for endangered species Giant Panda in Ya'an , Province of Sichuan , People's Republic of China .
history
Since its establishment in 2004, Bifengxia has become home to a number of giant pandas born in overseas zoos. After the 2008 Sichuan earthquake , some giant pandas were relocated from the badly damaged Wolong breeding station to Bifengxia .
Giant pandas that have been brought to Sichuan include:
- Hua Mei from the USA .
- Mei Sheng also from the USA.
- Fu Long (* 2007) from Schönbrunn Zoo , Vienna , November 2009.
- Fu Hu (* 2010) also from Schönbrunn, November 2012.
- Tai Shan from the Smithsonian National Zoological Park , Washington, DC , USA, February 2010.
- Su Lin and Zhen Zhen from the San Diego Zoo , California , USA.
