Band history

In the summer of 1992 the Big Balls were on stage for the first time at a free and outdoor festival in Vlotho . Singer Thomas Klaus ("Chicken") and the former guitarist Dirk Reinking were there among others.

In the winter of 1994 they played their first concert before Christmas in the "Musikbox" in Minden . On stage at this concert were: Thomas Klaus - vocals, Dirk Reinking - guitar, Olli Schröder - guitar, Andreas Eickmeier - bass, and Jörn Lacour on drums. In 1995, after a few changes on the guitar, Christian Sender joined the Big Balls, as did “Otten” (Hendrik Ostrau) as the new drummer. In the period from 1995 to 1997 the band, with the line-up Thomas Klaus - vocals, Dirk Reinking - guitar, Christian Sender - guitar, Andreas Eikmeier - bass, Hendrik Ostrau - drums, played around 50 concerts and took part in this line-up in 1997 released her first studio album In Memory Of Bon Scott - The Hunted Hunts The Hunter , on which three of her own songs are already represented ( Lady Whiskey , Gis A Smile , Thank God It's Friday ). In the same year Andreas Eikmeier was replaced by Matthias Haverkamp (Haver).

The year 1998 was marked by many member changes for the band. Hendrik Ostrau (Otten) played the last concert with the Big Balls in January. Jörg Klute joined him for him. Dirk Reinking also left the band in May. Several guitarists tried to stay in the band this year, but only Andreas Zamoyski (Zappi) managed to complete the Big Balls.

When Harley-Davidson - Jamboree in Berlin in 1998 they stepped over 20,000 listeners with bands like Skew Siskin and Roger Chapman on.

In 1999 Garrelt Riepelmeier replaced Jörg Klute on drums. With the line-up Thomas Klaus - vocals, Andreas Zamoyski - guitar, Christian Sender - guitar, Matthias Haverkamp - bass, Garrelt Riepelmeier - drums, they recorded their first live album Live And High Voltage A Bonny Tribute in the “Irrlicht “In Spenge . On this CD there is another piece of music called Chains .

In autumn 2001 Peter Koller joined the team as a permanent guitarist for Till Kaiser. Since then, Big Balls have remained unchanged in their line-up.

In 2002 their third album A Tribute To Bon Scott Unplugged was released. It is a live recording of the unplugged concert played in March in the “Tangente” in Siekerfelde / Bielefeld and the concert in the “Weberei” in Gütersloh . A new song of their own can also be found on the album. In the same year, the Big Balls wrote the fan anthem Grün Weiß for the handball Bundesliga team GWD Minden, which was immortalized on a single with two other new songs. During the recordings of Grün Weiß they were supported by the team with background vocals. Her song Lady Whiskey appeared on the soundtrack of the film Flesh Wounds .

In 2004 they played at the Rock Classic Festival in Petershagen with Sweet , Slade and T. Rex as well as at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart.

On October 31, 2007, a concert in the Gütersloh weaving mill was recorded. The CD Live now (2008) was created from this live recording , named after one of the band's own songs. With Crazy there is another song of their own on it. Her DVD Live Wire (2009) is also based on the recording of her concert in the club "Die Weberei".

Every year Big Balls give a “Christmas concert” in the Minden cultural center BÜZ, where they are sometimes disguised as Santa Clauses to the audience. The band has also become an integral part of the annual AC / DC fan meeting in Lüdenscheid. The Dynamite fan club is the largest in Europe and organizes this fan meeting every year on the anniversary of the death of Bon Scott, who died on February 19, 1980.
