Bilal Akkawy (* 12. May 1993 in New South Wales , Australia ) is an Australian professional boxer in the super middleweight and current unbeaten WBA -Oceania champion.
Career
In the summer of 2011 Akkawy began his professional career with a victory over Mick Jones by classic knockout in round 1. At the end of January 2015 Akkawy boxed against Joe Rea over a 4 round draw. At the end of October of the same year, in a fight for the vacant IBO youth world championship title, he met the Argentine Guillermo Ruben Andino, who had been unbeaten until then, and beat him in the 5th round by TKo
In October 2017, Akkawy won the WBA Oceania Belt when he stopped Carlos Adan Jerez, also from Argentina, in the 3rd round of a 10-round battle. He defended the title on February 24 of the following year over 10 rounds against the former regular WBA world champion Giovanni de Carolis clearly and unanimously on points (100: 89, 99:90, 99:90).
