Bilal El Mehdi Wahib (born January 20, 1999 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch film actor and singer .
Life
Bilal Wahib is of Moroccan origin and was born in Amsterdam in 1999. He began his career in television before he gave in 2016 his feature film debut in the movie and Layla M. of Mijke de Jong played, the Dutch Academy Post 2018 . This was followed by roles in Broeders and in the Dutch TV series Mocro Maffia . In 2019 he played the leading role in the Dutch box office hit De Libi . This was followed by the film Paradise Drifters by Mees Peijnenburg , which celebrated its international premiere as part of the Generation 14plus section at the Berlinale 2020 and in which, alongside Tamar van Waning and Jonas Smulders, he plays one of three young people who lose their grip on life without a family threaten to lose. From 2017 Wahib studied acting at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Wahib was named European Shooting Star at the Berlinale 2020 .
With the song Tigers he landed at number 3 in the Nederlandse Top 40 at the beginning of July 2020 . He got the idea for the song after watching the documentary Big Cats and Their Predators (original title Tiger King ) by Rebecca Chaiklin and Eric Goode about an American zoo owner, one of the most popular Netflix documentaries of all time. Even before the Tigers , Wahib tried his hand at music with his song Video Vixen , which he wrote with Bizzey.
