Jonas Smulders (born January 15, 1994 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch film actor .

Life

Born in Amsterdam in 1994, Jonas Smulders played a small role in Stefano Odoardi's One Night Stand at the age of 17 and has since had a number of engagements in Dutch productions. In 2016, Smulders made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the short film Loose . He also produced his short film Tex , which he presented the following year. In September 2017 he began training as a director at the Dutch Film Academy . As part of the Berlinale 2020, the coming-of-age drama Paradise Drifters by Mees Peijnenburg celebrated its international premiere, in which, alongside Tamar van Waning and Bilal Wahib, he plays one of three young people who threaten to lose their footing in life without a family.

Smulders was named European Shooting Star at the 2018 Berlinale .
