After it was announced in 2010 that the British armed forces would give up their locations in Germany, considerations were made in Herford about the further use of the British land. It became clear that the Wentworth barracks could be used as an educational location, with the conference center and the officers' mess predominating. Even before the barracks were given up in December 2015, concrete planning for the site began and in April 2016 the first application for funding for the renovation was submitted. The first funding approval was given in November 2016 and the approval of the then University of Applied Sciences for Finance on December 15, 2016. Thus, planning for the course could begin in January 2017. After the conclusion of the rental agreement with the BImA ( Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks ) for a first part of the Wentworth barracks, the expansion and renovation began in March 2017. Further funding was approved in June 2017. The city intends to buy the entire site from BImA.
