Educational chains

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Education Chains is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research BMBF . The aim of the initiative is to support students even before they start their professional life in order to facilitate the transition to training and work after school. Main components of education chains are the newly launched program career entry support education chains , the career guidance program (BOP) and the training structure program Jobstarter .

Origin of the initiative

In 2008 there were 70,000 pupils in Germany who left school without a qualification . At the education summit in Dresden in October 2008, the federal and state governments stated that they wanted to counteract this number, but there were no concrete concepts there. As a result, the educational chains initiative developed. It was approved by the cabinet in June 2010 and started on September 6, 2010 with the announcement of the positions for the first 500 educational pilots. On November 29, 2010, they started their work. At the same time, the homepage www.bildungsketten.de was activated as a communication platform on February 5, 2011. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is making around 362 million euros available for the entire initiative until 2013.

concept

In addition to strengthening and cooperating with existing opportunities such as career orientation, the introduction of potential analyzes in grade 7 plays an important role. Extra-curricular skills and competencies should also be taken into account. Afterwards, around 1000 career starters or educational guides develop concepts that are intended to specifically promote the students. There are also 1,000 volunteer experts who already have work experience and who look after the young people, especially in their first years of training.

aims

At the qualification summit on October 22, 2008, the Dresden Declaration stated that the number of school leavers without a qualification should be halved by 2015 from an average of eight percent to four percent. The number of young adults capable of training without a vocational qualification is also to be reduced from 17 percent to half by 2015. The initiative aims to achieve greater equity in education and reduce the shortage of skilled workers. By 2014, 30,000 schoolchildren should have benefited from the special program.
