The Bilkent Symphony Orchestra ( Turkish: Bilkent Senfoni Orkestrası , BSO for short ) is a symphony orchestra from Turkey . The orchestra, based at Bilkent University in Ankara , was founded in 1993 as the first private academic orchestra in Turkey.

The Bilkent Symphony Orchestra worked with guest conductors and soloists, including Wladimir Aschkenasi as conductor and Janine Jansen , Lang Lang , Mischa Maisky and Ivo Pogorelich as soloists. The BSO gives more than fifty concerts a year. Concert tours have taken the orchestra to Italy (1998), Germany and Portugal (2000), Belgium (2001), Switzerland ( Montreux , 2002–2004) and Japan ( Tokyo , 2004). In 2011 the BSO took part in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival .

More than 40 CD recordings have been made at the in-house music label Bilkent Music Production . Since 2003 recordings have been made with other labels such as EMI , cpo and Naxos .
