Bill Clark (musician)

Bill Clark (* 1958 ) is a Canadian jazz trumpeter, improvisation musician and composer.

Clark studied composition at Simon Fraser University . He has composed music for dance and film projects, for the Vancouver-based Ensemble Standing Wave and the Hard Rubber Orchestra . He composed the play Pavel and the Puck for a theatrical performance on the ice .

In 1993, Clark was one of the founding members of the Talking Pictures group , along with cellist Peggy Lee , guitarist Ron Samworth and drummer Dylan van der Schyff , which toured the United States and Europe with musicians like Wayne Horvitz and Jorrit Dijkstra and recorded several albums.

Clark also leads his own sextet and has worked with the Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Improvisation , the VEJI Big Band , the NOW Orchestra and the Hard Rubber Orchestra . Recordings were also made with all groups. As a sideman he was u. a. Partner of Kenny Wheeler , Muhal Richard Abrams , Butch Morris and Slide Hampton .
