Peggy Lee (cellist)

Peggy Lee (* 1963 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian cellist.

Lee completed a classical cello training, but has been active in jazz and improvisational music since moving to Vancouver in 1989 . In the group Talking Pictures she met her future husband, the drummer Dylan van der Schyff . She was also a member of the Standing Wave , Tony Wilson Sextet and NOW Orchestra .

In 1998 she founded the Peggy Lee Band , a group with bassist Chris Tarry , trumpeter Brad Turner , Dylan van der Schyff and Tony Wilson . She performed with the group at the Victoriaville Festival in 1999 and has recorded four albums with her so far. Other musical partners included a. keyboardist Wayne Horvitz , pianist John Wolf Brennan , trumpeter Dave Douglas , guitarists Nels Cline and Bill Frisell , violist Ig Henneman and violinist Carlos Zingaro .
