Brad Turner (born January 29, 1967 in Langley City ) is a Canadian jazz musician . The multi-instrumentalist works as a trumpeter, pianist and percussionist; he continues to compose.

Act

Turner is one of Canada's most prominent jazz musicians. As early as 1979 he performed with Rob McConnell . He has worked with musicians such as Joe Lovano , Kenny Wheeler , Michael Moore , Renee Rosnes , Achim Kaufmann , John Scofield , Ingrid Jensen , Mike Murley , Mark Helias , Charles McPherson , François Houle ( Cryptology , 2000), Peggy Lee and Gary Bartz and directs two own formations: the Brad Turner Quartet (with Bruno Hubert , André Lachance and Dylan van der Schyff ) and the Brad Turner Trio (with Darren Radke and Bernie Arai ). He has also been playing with Metalwood Electric Jazz since 1996 . He teaches at Capilano University .

As a coleader he won the Juno Award for the best jazz album of the year with the Metalwood group in 1997 and 1998 ; Another Juno Award followed with this band in 2017. He was also awarded the National Jazz Awards as Trumpeter of the Year (1999), Composer of the Year (2000 and 2002) and Musician of the Year (2005). In 2008 he received the trumpeter and music producer of the year award.
