Bruce Charles "Bill" Mollison (born May 4, 1928 in Tasmania , Australia ; † September 24, 2016 in Sisters Beach , Tasmania) was, together with David Holmgren , the "father of permaculture ". In 1978 he founded the Permaculture Institute, which is dedicated to spreading permaculture in education, research and through concrete implementation. In 1981 he received the Right Livelihood Award .
