Bimbo is the capital of Ombella-Mpoko Prefecture in the Central African Republic .

The city is 338 meters above sea level, in the sub-prefecture of the same name, Bimbo, which belongs to the Ombella-Mpoko prefecture , and is around 10 kilometers southwest of the capital Bangui near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

history

The city replaced Bangui as the capital of Ombella-Mpoko in 1964 . Bimbo ceded this status to Boali on May 12, 1967 . The administrative headquarters of Ombella-Mpoko have only been back in Bimbo since 1982.
