The Binnenmüritz is a lake south of Schwarzenhof, a district of the Kargow municipality , but still in the area of the city of Waren (Müritz) in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The body of water lies within protection zone I (core zone) of the Müritz National Park . The lake should not be confused with the north end of the same name of the Müritz, which is only 350 meters away .
The water is located about 3.5 kilometers southwest of Schwarzenhof and 4.5 kilometers north of Boek, a district of the municipality of Rechlin . With a maximum length of 790 meters and a maximum width of 450 meters, it has a surface area of 18.4 hectares. The water level is 62.4 m above sea level. NHN . The heavily covered lake is located in the middle of the marshland on the east bank of the Müritz, embedded between Röbelscher Wold and Specker Wold , areas slightly elevated above the marsh. The lake to Müritz drains via the Flötergraben built in 1866 and the “branch canal north” to the Specker See, which was created between 1932 and 1934 as a connecting canal and for drainage . One of the largest reed areas in Europe is located in the moor around the Binnenmürtiz.
Due to fluctuations in the water level, including changes in the height of the mill dam and the regulation of the Elde , the Binnenmüritz was at times part of the Müritz.
