Ethics Council
An ethics council , also an ethics advisory board , ethics committee , ethics committee is basically a body that advises an organization or an institution on ethical issues, sometimes also making judgments in the manner of an arbitration tribunal .
Such facilities exist in a number of areas of expertise, including:

Science ethics in general:
- World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology of UNESCO (COMEST, founded 1998)

Medicine and genetic engineering, animal experiments, reproductive medicine and other areas of medical ethics :
- Sector in general: ethics committees primarily in research, clinical ethics committees in practice
- Europe: Steering Committee on Bioethics (CDBI) of the Council of Europe, advises the member countries (founded in 1992, for the Oviedo Convention 1997)
- Germany: German Ethics Council and Parliamentary Ethics Advisory Council at government level
- Switzerland: National ethics committee in the field of human medicine (NEK)
- Austria: Bioethics Commission at the Federal Chancellery at government level (since 2001)

- Austria: Data Protection Council at the Federal Chancellery, at government level (DSG 2000)
- Germany: Federal Government's Data Ethics Commission (since July 2018); Council for Digital Ethics of the Hessian State Government (since August 2018)

- United States House Committee on Ethics , advises MPs on lobbying, donations, and conflicts of interest

- Austrian Press Council , for the voluntary self-regulation of print media, to adhere to the code of honor for the Austrian press (2012), which also includes questions of press ethics
