The Birdwell Point is a headland in the northwest corner of Dean Island before Hobbs Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It is completely enclosed by the Getz Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1974 after Keith W. Birdwell, an electrical engineer at Byrd Station in 1969.
