Birgit Kroos
Birgit Kroos (born June 16, 1962 in Greifswald , née Birgit Kämmer ) is a former German badminton player . In her career she won two GDR single titles and eight GDR team titles for her hometown club Einheit Greifswald .
In Greifswald, it was continuously developed in the sporting field from school to junior age. In 1978 she won all three possible titles in the individual disciplines in the age group 14/15. Even before her 16th birthday, she secured her first senior title with the Greifswald team, which was to be followed by seven other team titles. 1986 was her most successful year among the seniors. In addition to the championship title for the Greifswald team, she also secured the title in women's doubles and singles. She played four times for the GDR national team and won three games.
Birgit Kroos now lives in Rostock . She works there as a teacher for biology and sport. Together with the soccer coach Roland Kroos , she has two sons who continue the family's sporting tradition as professional soccer players. Toni plays for Real Madrid and the German national soccer team , Felix plays for Union Berlin .
