Birgit Mahnkopf (* 1950 ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Birgit Mahnkopf finished her studies in 1975 with a diploma. In 1984 she received her doctorate, in 1992 she qualified as a professor in sociology at the Free University of Berlin . Then she was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology. This was followed by research activities at the Dortmund Social Research Center , project management with a focus on the labor market and employment at the Social Research Center in Berlin and the representation of a chair in sociology at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Mahnkopf is Professor of European Social Policy at the Berlin School of Economics and Law . She is a member of the scientific advisory board of attac Germany, the board of trustees of the Solidarity Modern Institute and the advisory board of the open access magazine Momentum Quarterly .

Her work focuses on the economic, political and social dimensions of globalization as well as European and international politics. She also deals with the sociology of work and industrial relations as well as with the economics of education and education policy .
