Birgit Roth

Birgit Sabine Roth (born July 15, 1968 in Speyer ) is a media scientist and former member of the German Bundestag for the SPD .

education

From 1974 to 1978 Roth attended elementary school in Speyer and from 1978 to 1988 grammar school. From 1988 to 1994 she studied media studies and political science at the University of Mannheim , 1992/93 at the University of Kingston upon Hull ( Great Britain ), and obtained her Magister Artium degree . In 1994/95 she did further training as a public relations consultant .

From 1995 to 1996, Roth was a permanent lecturer in the field of advertising, public relations and event marketing at the Institute for Company Training in Mannheim. From December 1996 she worked as a freelance lecturer for advertising, public relations and marketing at various educational institutes and companies in the Rhine-Neckar region . In September 1998 she was elected to the German Bundestag and was a full member of the Economic and Tourism Committee. In 2003 she then moved to the management team at T-Online . In April 2008 it went to other European countries. Until April 2009, Roth was Secretary General of the International Association of Internet Hotline ( Inhope ), an association supported by the European Union and large communications companies and headquartered in Dublin , which aims to protect children and young people from illegal content on the Internet. From 2010 to February 2011 she was Director Public Affairs for Bigpoint GmbH in Hamburg . Since February 2011 she has been the managing director of the Federal Association of Computer Game Developers GAME. In January 2013 she opened an online store for organic food.

politics

In 1990 Roth became a member of the SPD. There she performed various functions:

  • 1990 member of the state board of the Young Socialists Rhineland-Palatinate
  • 1991 Member of the Palatinate District Board of the Young Socialists, responsible for press and public relations, significantly involved in the publication of the INFO Juso organ
  • 1996–1998 member of the board of the SPD sub-district Speyer, 1998–2004 deputy chairwoman of this body
  • 2004–2007 chairwoman of the SPD sub-district Neustadt an der Weinstrasse

From 1998 to 2002 Roth was a member of the Bundestag . She ran unsuccessfully in the federal elections in 2002 and 2005 .

Roth is a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Speyer and the Association for the Promotion of Vocational Education and Training (VFBB).
