Birgit Ziegert
Birgit Ziegert (born April 11, 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 11, 2017 ) was a German artist who was born with Down's syndrome . Her art is assigned to the Art brut .
life and work
Since August 2005 she has been working in the Frankfurt Atelier Goldstein , where she used all available materials for her art. She painted with acrylic paints or ink on canvas, with boat varnish on wood, with felt pen on plastic tarpaulin and fabric, or she did textile work. Her favorite subjects were people and animals.
For the stairwell of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt she designed a mural on the occasion of the exhibition “Weltenwandler” in 2010.
