Birken is a locality in the mountainous city of Wuppertal . The location is the result of a modern courtyard.
Location and description
The local situation is at 342 m above sea level. NHN in the area of today's streets Schliemannweg at the corner of Scharpenacker Weg in the Lichtenplatz residential area of the Barmen district . Birken is no longer perceptible today as an independent settlement area; the courtyard is occupied by today's residential development on Schliemannweg.
The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the first Prussian survey of 1840 record the location under the name In den Birken , from the Prussian new survey of 1892 the location is only recorded as birches .
