The Birkenhof is a listed residential building in Bennungen in the southern Harz municipality in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the southern part of the village, at the address Kirchplatz 71 , northeast of the Sankt-Johannes-Kirche in a corner at the confluence of the Brauhausgasse on the Kirchplatz. In the past, the address at Breite Strasse 71 was also used.

Architecture and history

The large two-storey house was probably built around 1786 without the gable facing the church square. It was built from rubble stones and in half-timbered construction. An outbuilding is attached. At the end of the 20th century it was used as a post office, currently (as of 2017) it is used as a residential building. and originally belonged to a larger farm.

In the local monument register , the house has been listed as a monument since August 24, 1995 under registration number 094 83390 . It is considered to be culturally, artistically and urbanistically significant.
