The Birrie River arises in the flood plain of the Bokhara River, around ten kilometers south of the Queensland border near the settlement of Mogila . Then it flows northwest of the Bokhara River, roughly parallel to it, to the southwest and after 197 kilometers at Glandore it meets the Culgoa River, which runs further northwest in a southwest direction.
