Adony ( German Adam ) is a town in the small area Adony within Fejér County in Hungary . Adony is the administrative seat of the small area and has been town since 1989. In 2009, 3,839 people lived in an area of 61.05 km².
Adony is right on the west bank of the Danube .
The M6 motorway to Budapest runs on the western outskirts of Adony.
The most valuable historical legacy is the scientifically interesting Roman border fort Vetus Salina , which was largely destroyed by the Danube, but which as a ground monument has left no traces visible above the ground. Today the substance of the camp village ( vicus ) that has arisen around the fort is threatened by modern overbuilding.
