The Bishop River is a 41 km long left tributary of the Southgate River in the southern Coast Mountains in British Columbia .
The Bishop River has its origin in the glacial rim lake below the Bishop Glacier at an altitude of about 1280 m . It initially flows in a north-westerly direction. After 10 km the outflow of the Stanley Smith Glacier flows into the river on the right. This gradually turns towards west-northwest and later west. The Falcon Creek , drainage of several glaciers, flows from the south into the Bishop River. This eventually flows into the Southgate River. The approximately 790 km² large catchment area of the Bishop River is located in the northeast of the Strathcona Regional District .
Established in 2000, the 19,947 hectare Bishop River Provincial Park encompasses the upper reaches of the Bishop River.
The river was named in 1924 after Richard Preston Bishop (1884-1954), a surveyor in British Columbia.
