The square tower of approx. 5 × 5 meters stands on a terrace, is about 19 meters high and tapers towards the top.

history

The tower was financed with funds from the German student body. The foundation stone was laid on June 21, 1901 and completed in 1903. The tower was inaugurated on June 21, 1903, the summer solstice holiday.

The basic design for the Bismarck Towers was created by Wilhelm Kreis in 1898. 47 Bismarck towers were built according to this design, and almost 200 more towers according to other designs. A fire bowl was installed on top of each of these towers. On certain days, these bowls were supposed to be fired throughout Germany in honor of Bismarck.

The tower has been a listed building since the 1980s.
