Bismarck tower on the Bad Kissinger Sinnberg

The Bismarck Tower on the Bad Kissinger Sinnberg was started in 1914 by the local Bismarck Tower Association under the chairmanship of its founder, the pharmacist Oscar Ihl, according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Kreis . This association favored Bismarck and the empire and was in certain competition with the Wittelsbacher-Verein, which regarded Bavaria as a sovereign kingdom even after the founding of the empire and built the Wittelsbacher Tower in 1907 .

The architect of the tower, Wilhelm Kreis, had already designed various Bismarck towers by then; 47 towers were built with only minor deviations based on his type design “Götterdämmerung” from 1899. The Bad Kissinger Bismarck Tower was created according to a new, individual design.

The beginning of the First World War prevented the completion of the construction work. It was not until December 2, 1926, supported by the movement for the completion of the tower, chaired by the spa garden director Wolfgang Singer, that the topping-out ceremony could be celebrated. The outer completion lasted, delayed by the global economic crisis , by the year 1930. In 1934, was created by the hand of Wolfgang Singer a leading to the tower serpentine.

During the Second World War the tower was used for air space observation . It wasn't until 1985 that the interior work began. The tower was opened to the public on June 21, 1986. A staircase, toilets and a viewing platform were installed.
