The Roman Catholic diocese in the Languedoc ( southern France ) with its seat in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières was founded on July 11, 1317 and by a bull Pope John XXII. officially announced on February 18, 1318.

history

It belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Narbonne . It was repealed on November 29, 1801 by the Concordat of 1801 between Napoleon and the Holy See ; its territory was incorporated into the diocese of Montpellier .

The former cathedral of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières has been preserved and is still used as a parish church.
