Bitdefender Antivirus Plus is a product from the Romanian IT company Bitdefender. It was developed primarily for computers with Windows and Mac OS and is intended to protect users from malware .
Functions
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus has Active Virus Control , an autopilot, Safepay, detection and removal of viruses , trojans , worms , spyware , adware , keyloggers , auto-dialers , privacy protection, phishing protection, search advisor, remote administration, and rootkit detection and removal . Bitdefender Antivirus Plus also receives automatic real-time updates.
According to Bitdefender , Active Virus Control enables Bitdefender Antivirus Plus users to detect malware in real time.
It also scans incoming instant messenger traffic, e-mail traffic and automatically examines connected USB storage media. The program also includes free technical support, protection in social networks and free program upgrades within the paid subscription. Bitdefender currently offers annual, two-year, and three-year subscriptions.
Test results
In the test by AV-Comparitives , Bitdefender Antivirus Plus was named the best antivirus program in November 2012. Over 20 well-known security suites were tested through hundreds of URL calls. In security tests, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus removed up to 100% of uncompressed malware.
restrictions
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus lacks some of the features Bitdefender Internet Security possesses. These functions are a firewall filter , protection of minors, data shredder and the cloud spam protection. Bitdefender, like many of its competitors, is incompatible with other anti-virus and anti-spyware software.
Macintosh versions
The Macintosh version of Bitdefender Antivirus Plus runs on all Intel processor-based computers with Mac OS X Leopard. Bitdefender also provides the Bitdefender Mechanic app for free. According to Bitdefender, this app has the functions of privacy protection, memory cleaning and program update reminders. Bitdefender Antivirus Plus for Mac also scans shared folders of Windows users using a so-called proactive scan.

In addition is Internet Explorer version 7 or higher is required and .NET Framework 3.5 . Bitdefender Antivirus Plus supports Firefox from version 3.6, Thunderbird from version 3.0.4, Outlook 2007 and 2010, Outlook Express and Windows Mail for x86. Furthermore, an existing internet connection is required for registration and updates with Mac versions. Antiphishing protection for Safari is supported from version 5.0.1 and higher.
