Bitpop
Bitpop is a genre of electronic music . When Bitpop the sound aesthetics is attempted by means of analog and synthetic sound generator 4-bit and 8-bit computers to reach (more rarely 16-bit). The sound resolution, which is greatly reduced due to its technical limitations, leads to a special, minimalist sound aesthetic. The prefix bit clarifies the perceptible digital character of the music. In contrast to technically more modern sound generation, the fine gradation of which is indistinguishable from an analog signal.
A related genre is chiptune , where the artistic aspect takes up more space. In addition, Bitpop is more about sound generation and music itself than the compulsory use of old systems such as the Commodore 64 , the Atari 2600 , the NES or the Game Boy . In addition to singing, modern and common instruments and synthesizers are often used and combined with the 8-bit sound, whereby this or the real instruments take up more or less space depending on the orientation. The borders between the styles of chiptune , Bitpop and Game Wave are therefore sometimes blurred. The USA and Sweden are considered to be the strongholds of Bitpop. In Japan this type of music is called picopop .
