Biyon Kattilathu (born April 28, 1984 in Hagen ) is a German author and motivational speaker .

Life

Kattilathu is the son of Indian immigrants and grew up in Hagen in the Ruhr area . His mother came to Germany from Kerala, India , when she was 18 and worked as a nurse. His father later followed and worked in a hospital laboratory. Kattilathu has an older brother. According to his own statement, he came into conflict with the law as a teenager and had to do community hours. He attributes this to the fact that he lacked a positive role model.

Kattilathu studied engineering at the University of Wuppertal and graduated as diploma - Industrial Engineering from. He then did his doctorate in economics on the subject of motivational psychology . In 2016 he started a world record attempt in which he hugged 111 people in one minute. In 2017, he kissed 129 people on the cheek in a similar action. Both events were accompanied by sponsoring campaigns, and the proceeds went to a children's hospice.

Kattilathu publishes motivational videos on Facebook , YouTube and Instagram and works as a keynote speaker and motivational speaker. He holds lectures, workshops and practical seminars for corporations and brands such as Schwarzkopf , Vapiano and Bosch . His audio book "Glücksgeschichten: 20 inspiring stories that changed my life", published in 2018, reached number 5 on the Spiegel bestseller list of audio books. As part of the Learn4Life event series , he spoke to Austrian school classes. He gives lectures at schools on a voluntary basis, especially in problem areas. Since 2019 he has been touring in German-speaking countries with his solo program "... Because every day is special", a mixture of motivational training, cabaret and advice packed in anecdotes. In the same year the book “The rickshaw driver who gives away happiness” was published by Graefe und Unzer Verlag and reached number 4 in the Spiegel bestseller list of non-fiction. The book is about a rickshaw driver who drives guests through New Delhi and helps them with their problems and gives advice. At the end of each chapter, the reader can call up a video message in which Kattilathu shows the places in India and reflects on the content. In 2020 he published his second book "Because every day is special: Your diary", which should help to find positive routines. It reached number 20 on the Spiegel bestseller list Life & Health.
