The Bizerba SE & Co. KG is a major German manufacturer of scales , headquartered in Balingen in Baden-Württemberg . The company also produces cutting machines, pricing and labeling systems, among other things. Bizerba is one of the largest employers in Balingen. In addition to the plant in Balingen, Bizerba has production facilities in Meßkirch , Bochum , Shanghai and other foreign locations.

The company was founded in 1866 by the master mechanic Andreas Bizer and included the Bizer brothers' existing scale manufacturing workshop , which had built scales years earlier . In 1906 Andreas Bizer sold the company for 25,474 gold marks to his son-in-law Wilhelm Kraut. This did not discard the company name A. Bizer . The name was transferred to him through a commercial court entry, supplemented by the addition of owner Wilhelm Kraut .

The breakthrough for the company came in 1924 with the development of the tilt switch weight scale , kg with a range up to 5 without be handled with loose weights needed. For weights over 1 kg, the new weighing range could be activated by turning the handle on the housing. This new scale, patented in 1925, came onto the market in the same year under the name Bizerba .
