Bizionia is a genus of bacteria . The generic name was chosen in honor of the Italian natural scientist Bartolomeo Bizio . They are marine bacteria.
features
The cells of the different types of Bizionia are approx. 0.3 to 0.5 µm wide and 1.0 - 5.0 µm long. The bacterium is immobile and there is no sliding movement, which is observed in many species of the Flavobacteriaceae family . The oxidase test and the catalase test are positive. Nitrate is not reduced. There are some cold-loving ( psychrophilic ) species in this genus. B. Bizionia algoritergicola Growth at temperatures from −2 to 25 ° C.

Bizionia was described by Olga I. Nedashkovskaya and co-workers in 2005 . It belongs to the Flavobacteriaceae family, which in turn belongs to the Bacteroidetes division . The type species is Bizionia paragorgiae . Here is a list of some types:
