Walter Dilthey

Walter Dilthey (born March 26, 1877 in Rheydt ; † June 24, 1955 in Zülpich ) was a German chemist.

Life

Dilthey studied chemistry at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . In 1896 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg , where he proved himself as a senior . When he was inactive , he moved to RWTH Aachen University , Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg , the University of Chicago , the University of Paris and the University of Zurich . The Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen graduated him in 1900 as Dr. phil. In 1904 he completed his habilitation at the University of Zurich, where he became a private lecturer, and in 1918 again in Erlangen, where he became a private lecturer and in 1922 an associate professor . In 1922 he succeeded Hans Meerwein at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1947 he retired .

He investigated the relationship between the chemical structure and color of organic compounds, for example in triphenylmethane dyes and azo dyes , and later in quinones and flower dyes.
