Bjorn Lyrvall

Björn Lyrvall (* 1960 in Hofors , Sweden ) is a Swedish diplomat and his country's ambassador to the United States .

Career

Lyrvall studied political science at Stockholm University, among other things . From 1995 to 1997 he was initially Special Advisor to the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt , who at the time was EU negotiator and High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina , and the United Nations Special Envoy to the Balkans in 1999.

Lyrvall performed other diplomatic tasks in Sweden in Leningrad , Moscow and London .

Lyrvall was from 2002 to 2007 in the permanent representation of Sweden in the European Union , first as a delegate for the enlargement negotiations and from 2003 as a representative of Sweden in the Political and Security Committee . In 2007 Lyrvall took over the post of Director General for Political Affairs at the Swedish Foreign Ministry in Stockholm .

Between 2013 and 2017, Lyrvall was Sweden's ambassador to the United States. He then took over the role of Swedish Ambassador for Arctic Affairs.

Björn Lyrvall is married and has three children.
