Karl August Georg Rudolf Ernst Friedrich Freiherr von Eller-Eberstein (born January 5, 1830 in Minden ; † May 27, 1908 in Hanover ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the later lieutenant colonel a. D. Karl Christian Heinrich Wilhelm von Eller-Eberstein (1779–1834) and his wife Leopoldine, born von Mansberg (1804–1834).

Military career

Eller-Eberstein visited the cadet house in Berlin and was then transferred as a second lieutenant to the 2nd Guard Uhlan (Landwehr) Regiment of the Prussian Army . Shortly afterwards, on May 11, 1847, he was transferred to the 1st Guard Ulanen (Landwehr) Regiment . Here Eller-Eberstein acted as regimental adjutant from March 1854 to August 1855 and was promoted to Rittmeister by the end of May 1859 . As such, he was commanded in May / June 1860 to the combined Guard-Uhlan Regiment, from which the 3rd Guard-Uhlan Regiment was formed on July 4, 1860 . Eller-Eberstein became squadron chief on March 5, 1863 and was active in the General Staff from the beginning of February 1866 . With the start of the German war he came as a Major in the General Staff of the 1st Cavalry Division under Major General Hermann von Alvensleben and participated in the Battle of Hradec Kralove in part. For his behavior he was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV Class with Swords. After the preliminary peace in Nikolsburg , Eller-Eberstein transferred to the General Staff of the Guard Cavalry Division . In mid-January 1868 he was transferred as a regular staff officer to the regiment of the Gardes du Corps . Awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, after the Peace of Frankfurt on November 11, 1871, he was commander of the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment . On January 18, 1872 he was made a colonel and at the beginning of April 1875 was accepted as a knight of honor in the Order of St. John . In mid-February 1876, Eller-Eberstein was given the rank and fees as brigade commander. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of the 15th Cavalry Brigade in Cologne on November 11, 1876 . family

Eller-Eberstein married on March 9, 1888 in Rösa with Mathilde Countess Solms from the Sonnenwalde house. From the marriage the son Karl Leopold emerged in 1890, co-owner of Gehofen and first lieutenant in Magdeburg Hussar Regiment No. 10 .
