Björn R. Kommer

Björn R. Kommer (born January 7, 1942 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German art historian .

Life

Kommer spent part of his childhood in the immediate post-war years with his grandmother in Sweden. He studied art history in Heidelberg and Uppsala and passed his exams in both countries. In 1971 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg with a dissertation on the Swedish architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger and his main work, the Stockholm Palace .

He began his career as a museum man in Lübeck as a research assistant at the Museum for Art and Cultural History of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck , where he worked at the Behnhaus and the St. Annen Museum . In 1990 he was appointed director of the art collections of the city of Augsburg and worked in Augsburg until he retired in 2005. One of the highlights of his work was the exhibition on Adriaen de Vries 2000 in Augsburg.
