Bjørn Sortland
Bjørn Sortland (born May 1, 1968 in Bergen , Norway ) is a Norwegian writer ( children's and youth literature ).
Life
Sortland initially worked as a journalist until 1998 when he switched to writing for children and young people. He studied at the Academy for Writing Art in Bergen and later gave courses there himself.
Sortland's central themes are puberty and art. The series “dangerous journeys” (literally translated: “art detectives”) describes fictional vacation experiences of a family who repeatedly cross the paths of a gang of art thieves.
The author has received numerous awards, including the renowned Aschehoug Literature Prize in 2011 . His books have been translated almost worldwide, including the USA and Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, almost all of Europe, and Turkey and Egypt.
