The Bläsibad has been mentioned since the second half of the 15th century and had a good reputation as a medicinal bath. According to legend, it was discovered by a shepherd while one of his sheep was recovering. That is why the chapel was dedicated to Saint Blaise , the doctor of animals.

The bath, which the botanist Leonhart Fuchs recommended for ulcers, rheumatism, gout and similar complaints, was connected to an inn that was very popular with the Tübingen students. Since the early 19th century, the bathing business declined. In addition, the bathing establishment burned down in 1831. The new building erected afterwards no longer received any special baths, even though bath tubs were still administered. The drying up of the springs brought popular opinion in connection with the excavation of the sulfur spring in Bad Sebastiansweiler in 1845. The inn closed around 1870.

Road construction

At the Bläsibad, the four-lane expansion of federal highway 27 from Nehren to Tübingen will end until the planned Schindhaubasistunnel is approved and built, which will have its south portal here.
