The Swiss rock band Black Angels was founded in 1979 by Harry Greis in Schaffhausen . This was followed by the release of five albums and over 85,000 records sold worldwide . Tours have taken the band across Europe. They have appeared with Mother's Finest , Alvin Lee Band , Ten Years After , Uriah Heep , Whitesnake and Nazareth , among others . They also played on radio and television. The Black Angels, along with Krokus and China, were among the Swiss rock exports that played a key role in writing the book on the young history of Swiss hard rock.

In February 2009 all old albums were re-released and a new CD was released. The Black Angels can be seen live again as Ron Phillips Black Angels after a 20-year hiatus . In June 2019 the album Steamroller was released.
