The Black River ( English for "Black River") is a tributary of Lake Winnipeg in the east of the Canadian province of Manitoba .

The Black River has its origin in Black Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park not far from the provincial border with Ontario . It flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the Canadian Shield .
