Blackallia biloba is the only kind of the genus Blackallia from the family of the Buckthorn family (Rhamnaceae). The shrub is native to Western Australia. The generic name honors William Edward Blackall (1876–1941), an (English) Australian doctor and botanist, friend of CA Gardner .

Blackallia biloba is an evergreen, thorny shrub . The leaves are two-lobed, small and arranged alternately.

The flowers are either in fascicles or as single flowers on long pedicels . The flower cup is tubular, the sepals are upright, the petals are dome-shaped, the disc is wreath-shaped. The ovary is on top, the partial fruits open.

Distribution and systematics

Blackallia biloba is native to Western Australia. Both species and genus were first described by Charles Austin Gardner in 1942 . Within the buckthorn family, it is classified in the tribe Pomaderreae .
