Blake Renee Baxter (* 1963 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American techno - DJ and - producer .

Blake Baxter grew up in Detroit . As a teenager he wrote poetry and experimented with different rhythms on his drums . In the early 1980s he was a member of various local bands. During this time he also took his first steps as a DJ. He mixed alternative sounds with acid house and dance and quickly became known in the Detroit scene.

1985 signed a contract with Baxter record label DJ International in Chicago . Two productions have been released: Does not compute and Work your Body . Two years later, Baxter released an EP with four tracks on the Detroit label KMS Records . At the time he was working as a resident DJ at the Majestic Theater.

In 1988 and 1989 he produced two songs, Sexuality and Fuck you up , which quickly became classics within the scene due to their blunt language. In 1990 Baxter joined the Underground Resistance label and released another 4-track EP. He was the first artist to release an EP on Underground Resistance. In the following time he started a tour through Europe - together with Kevin Saunderson , Derrick May , Juan Atkins , Joey Beltram and Jeff Mills .

In 1991 he signed a contract with Tresor Records in Berlin , where his first album Dream Sequence was released. Since then, Baxter has mainly been traveling in Europe.
